Oliver Anthony Shaved His Head, and the Before and After Is Stunning

In 2023, the viral hit “Rich Men North of Richmond” made Oliver Anthony the first artist to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 without any prior charting history. Taking aim at politicians, the politically charged tune transformed Anthony, 32, from a relative unknown to an overnight sensation. The country-folk artist (born Christopher Anthony Lunsford in the Piedmont region of Virginia) released his studio debut, Hymnal of a Troubled Man’s Mind, in March 2024. Then, seemingly approaching the height of his fame, Anthony abruptly announced his exit from the music industry. And the “Ain’t Gotta Dollar” crooner recently debuted a brand-new missionโ€”with a brand-new look to match.

Oliver Anthony Debuts New Look During London Appearance

Earlier this week, Oliver Anthony delivered the keynote speech at theย second global ARC Conference in London. ARC (Alliance for Responsible Citizenship) touts itself as “an international movement with a vision for a better world” dedicated to “developing a better narrative in response to life’s most fundamental social, economic, philosophical and cultural questions.”

Known for blustery social media rants, Anthony hit on familiar topicsโ€”technology’s commodification of the culture; โ€œspineless politicians, โ€œself-centered celebrities.” However, he also promoted a new projectโ€”and debuted a new look.

Anthony shared a clip of his speech on social media where he is sporting a newly shorn hairstyle. His previous post, from Jan. 20, shows an unruly mop of red hair.

Perhaps Anthony was aiming for a more professional look before addressing a room full of world leaders. He still kept his signature long beard, however.

Anthony Announces the Rural Revival Project

Back in October, Oliver Anthony revealed that he was leaving the music industry. Although he plans to continue to release music, Anthony says his true focus is traveling ministry work. And his keynote speech at the 2025 ARC conference provided some insight into how that might look.

Anthony will kick off โ€œthe first official gatheringโ€ for his Rural Revival Project on April 5 in Spruce Pine, North Carolina.

According toย its official website, the Rural Revival Project aims to transform abandoned farms into places where people struggling with mental health issues or substance abuse can โ€œreconnect with nature and learn to exist outside of a system that has just kind of been placed on us as a generation.โ€

“[It’s] basically going to start as a grassroots music festival,” Anthony has said. “But hopefully, it grows into something that can literally change our landscape and our culture and the way we live.โ€
