Paramore is Back in the Studio after Hayley Williams’ Lung Infection

After canceling the rest of their U.S. tour two weeks ago, Hayley Williams of Paramore shared an update via the band’s Discord, revealing that she is feeling significantly better after suffering from a lung infection. In her statement, which was posted this past weekend, Williams also said that the beloved band is currently busy in the studio.

โ€œWeโ€™ve been off the road for a couple of weeks nowโ€ฆmainly in LA,” Williams’ post began. “Thankfully got some down time but we put some work in too. It felt good to get back into a studio. More of that once we get home to Nashville.

“I can hardly believe I donโ€™t cough all day and night anymore,” she continued. “My stomach is still fucked from 10 kinds of medicationโ€ฆIโ€™m just happy to be resting more. When I was feeling my worst, I couldnโ€™t do much but just sleep and lay around. I watched all ofย Yellowjackets, 3 or 4 music docs,ย They Cloned Tyrone,ย A Good Personย (never cried so much or stared blankly across my living room for longer after a movie was over)โ€ฆbut mostly I just scrolled around on my phoneโ€ฆto a degree that has been, to put it nicely, disgusting.โ€

Later in the note, Williams discussed her simultaneous disdain for and entanglement with social media. โ€œAfter successfully divorcing myself from social media for quite a long timeโ€“I have become, once again, chronically online,” Williams added. “Anyone else know this pain?

“For me, it always starts out sweet. I love to see photos or random anecdotes from people whoโ€™ve come out to our showsโ€ฆ I love the stupid inside jokes and even the sticky parasocial connection,” Williams continued. “And when I am not para-lurking, I am watching dog videos or watching people I donโ€™t know organize their shit. But I also see lots of news, especially from back home. Itโ€™s literally always sad or rage-inducing. Never positive. Depressing.โ€

Toward the end of the note, Williams explained how her and her Paramore bandmates are focusing on creating new music. โ€œZac and Taylor and I also just want to get back to making things. Not only the creative process but the layer(s) of insulation that can come with the creative process. For me, when we get into this mode it always feels nice to disappear this way,” Williams stated. “Maybe this time I will be able to find balance between the disappearing and yet not completely shutting out the world. But probably not.โ€
