Paul McCartney May Be Planning to Give a Beatles Song Its Live Debut at His 2024 Tour Kickoff Concert in Uruguay

Paul McCartney is getting back on the road for the first time in 2024 with a new leg of his ongoing Got Back Tour. As previously reported, the trek kicks off on Tuesday, October 1, with a show in Uruguayโ€™s capital city, Montevideo.

Fans who attend the concert may get to witness a historic performance from McCartney. A fan-shot video posted on the Diรกrio Dos Beatles X page captured Sir Paul performing the new Beatles tune โ€œNow and Thenโ€ on September 30 while rehearsing for the Montevideo show at Centenario Stadium. The song, which was released in November 2023, has never been played live by the former Fab Four legend.

โ€œNow and Then,โ€ of course, was the Beatles song that was put together using a demo recorded by John Lennon in the late 1970s, to which new vocals and instrumental parts were added by the bandโ€™s other members during the 1990s and 2020s.

McCartney Also Posted a Rehearsal Video Montage on His Socials

Meanwhile, in celebration of the launch of the tour, McCartney has posted a video on his YouTube channel and social media pages featuring a montage of clips of him rehearsing with his longtime backing group in Los Angeles.

The post includes a note that reads, โ€œFrom the rehearsal roomโ€ฆ to a city near you โ€ฆ Hereโ€™s a taste of whatโ€™s to come, as we ready to rock and roll on the 2024 GOT BACK tour!โ€

At the beginning of the video, McCartney, flanked by his touring bandโ€™s members, comments, โ€œWeโ€™re getting excited. Weโ€™re at rehearsals. Weโ€™re getting ready to come down and see you.โ€

We then see a series of clips of Paul and the group running through various songs. Among them are his solo tunes โ€œCome On to Meโ€ and โ€œLetting Go,โ€ and the Beatles songs โ€œHelter Skelter,โ€ โ€œIโ€™ve Got a Feeling,โ€ and โ€œCarry That Weight.โ€

The promo also features glimpses of the light show, pyrotechnics and video presentations that will accompany McCartney and his group. The latter includes what appears to be a clip of the โ€œNow and Thenโ€ music video. We also see a bit of McCartneyโ€™s virtual duet with footage the late John Lennon on โ€œIโ€™ve Got a Feeling.โ€

In addition, the clip includes a brief shot of a set list. More than 20 songs are visible, including the expected mix of McCartney solo tunes, Wings songs, and Beatles classics.

Before the video ends, McCartney declares, โ€œItโ€™s rock โ€˜nโ€™ roll! Weโ€™re getting excited to get down and see you. Ainโ€™t that right, fellas?โ€ His band members then all yell, โ€œYeah!,โ€ and Paul adds, โ€œSee you there.โ€
