Rod Stewart doesn’t often find himself at the center of controversy, but he’s not immune to the occasional spat with another famous person. One famous person in question was none other than Russell Brand, someone who often finds himself at the center of controversy.
Back in 2006, both Brand and Stewart attended GQ’s Men of the Year Awards. During the award ceremony, Brand took to the stage to give his acceptance speech. In his speech, Brand apparently admitted to being involved with Stewart’s daughter, Kimberly.

“Here’s to Rod Stewart, who had a go at me earlier this year for too much womanizing,” Brand said. “But then again, I did have a go on his daughter.”
The comment was in poor taste at the time, and in even more poor taste in the wake of Brand recently being charged with assault following numerous allegations from other women spanning decades. And, at the time in 2006, Stewart was not going to let that comment slide.

Later during the GQ ceremony, Rod Stewart took to the stage to accept the award for Outstanding Achiever. Rather than focusing on the recognition given to him, he quickly opted to confront Brand for his repulsive comment.
“You went with my daughter, did you?” said Stewart, before demanding that Brand stand up in the audience.
At first, it seemed like the whole thing might have been a lighthearted joke. Brand said he took Kimberly out for one date, which prompted Stewart to ask if he “behaved himself.” Brand said that he “never touched” her, and Stewart’s following comments made it clear he wasn’t joking around.
“F***ing right, you didn’t,” said Rod Stewart. “You mustn’t come up here and boast. I speak here as a father.”
Rumors spread shortly after that Brand attempted to apologize, but in a later interview with Stewart, it was clear that he was not interested in accepting any sort of apology.
“He might be a bit of a player but he shouldn’t boast,” Stewart told the Evening Standard. “I never did. Russell’s been a bit timid since I had my say.”
The year 2006 was a very different time, but in the context of Brand’s recent charge, this whole debacle involving Rod Stewart has a more sinister undertone to it.
