Most artists tend to shy away from releasing or sharing anything new in the year’s final weeks. Riley Green, on the other hand, isn’t like most artists. Earlier this month, he released “Christmas to Me” just in time for the holidays. Last week, he shared a snippet of a new song called “What Am I Supposed to Do Now” with his fans and followers on social media.
Green’s latest release celebrated the wholesome spirit of holidays spent with a big family. “What Am I Supposed to Do Now” is a classic heartbroken country song. It ticks all of the sad country song boxes—missing the one that got away, loneliness, and trying to drink away a broken heart.

The sadness in the song seems to have an edge of anger to it. The complex feelings come out in the chorus. There ain’t no doubt about it / This poor heart is drowning / And I’m stuck in this bottle and I got no way out. / So what am I supposed to do now.
Green found success this year with his award-winning Ella Langley collaboration “You Look Like You Love Me.” Now, it appears that he’s looking to keep that momentum going in the new year.
Riley Green Knew “You Look Like You Love Me” Would Start Rumors
Ella Langley and Riley Green have performed “You Look Like You Love Me” on multiple occasions this year. The song’s subject matter and their onstage chemistry led many fans to believe that there was more between the artists than a professional relationship. Green knew that was going to happen before they recorded the song. Recently, he appeared on The Viall Files: Going Deeper. During the conversation, he addressed the rumors.
“I mean, Ella’s probably too smart to date me anyway,” Green said, brushing off the rumors of a romantic spark between the two. He pointed out that fans just want to believe that duet partners fall in love. “I think that’s kind of the country music fan. Like, they love the Tim McGraw and Faith, and the George and Tammy,” he explained.
He also warned Langley about the rumors before they recorded the song. “There’s gonna be a lot of things said, but I mean, you don’t really have to play into it or not play into it,” he told her. “It’s gonna be something people enjoy the same way we do when we go listen to those songs.”
