Seattle songwriter Sera Cahoone first gained notoriety through her initial releases on Sub Pop, catching the ears of fans and critics alike with infectious melodies and a no-frills approach to crafting thoughtful roots music. “Only One,” a happy-go-lucky new song from her forthcoming fourth album From Where I Started, pays homage to those Americana roots with its foot-stomping beat and fiddle solo, all the while looking optimistically towards the future through the rose-tinted lens of a burgeoning romance.
“I wrote the music for ‘Only One’ on a beautiful summer day sitting on my porch looking out at Lake Washington,” Cahoone says. “I think ‘Only One’ is about finding your person. Falling in love and feeling like you’re so incredibly lucky to find this person to go through life with. No questions. No hesitation. In truth, many of us have more than one love in our life. Different loves at different times. The true miracle of it all is having a heart that is open to give and receive love.”
