The Avett Brothers are at it again. Listen to the title track off their forthcoming release, “I and Love and You.”
By now youโre probably well aware that North Carolinaโs Avett Brothers are at it again, gearing up for the September 29th release of I and Love and You.ย In the form of a powerful piano ballad, the forthcoming effortโs title track is full of the raw emotion and folky harmonies that the bros are known for.
โTell the ones that need to know/we are headed north,โ the boys sing in what sounds like some sort of goodbye note to the South.ย โOh Brooklyn, Brooklyn, take me in/Are you aware the shape Iโm in?โ they continue, as strings join soft harmonies, alongside brushed drums.
According to Spinner, the song was inspired by a show the band did at Brooklynโs Galapagos venue.ย โIt was the coolest place we’d ever been, and the furthest from home we’d ever been in every sense,โ says Seth. Though the track may take on a โNew York State of Mind,โ the brothersโ musical roots have certainly not been set aside.ย If the Rick Rubin-produced track is any indication as to the rest of the effortโs sound, it should be one fine record indeed.
