On Friday (September 8), SZA visited New York for a spontaneous concert at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in celebration of her December 2022 album SOS. Making the event free for all, as she is currently prepping for the second leg of her SOS Tour, the St. Louis-bred singer played many of the songs from her chart-topping LP.
Additionally, SZA decided to announce the impending deluxe version of SOS at the show, revealing the title and estimated amount of songs that will be added.

โSo the deluxe is like a whole โnother album, and itโs called Lana,” she told the Brooklyn crowd. “Itโs seven to 10 songs, and itโll be out this fall.โ
Without an official release date, Lana is a play on SZA’s birth name Solรกna Rowe, combining SOS and LANA. She even decided to play some of the songs she intends to include on Lana at the show, explaining how the concert came together on a whim.
โHeads up, we donโt actually have a plan,โ she said about the setlist. โWeโre just playing some songs off the deluxe, and weโre just gonna play a couple of songs you already know. It was really just โ I just wanted to do something for free that was a vibe โcause I was here in town. Literally, thereโs no other point to this whatsoever.โ

The announcement of Lana comes two weeks after SZA put out the music video for “Snooze,” SOS‘s eighth track. Including cameos from Justin Bieber, Benny Blanco, and other notable actors Woody McClain and Young Mazino, the visuals refueled fans’ interest in new SZA music, which she’d been hinting at since SOS first came out.
Talks surrounding Lana first started in January, when SZA did an interview with iHeartRadioโs #MostRequestedLive show.
โThere are still songs that didnโt make the album that I wanted to make the album, but thatโs what deluxe and things are for,โ she said. โSometimes itโs 10 songs that didnโt make the cut, so weโll see. Iโm going to throw them all out there becauseโฆ No one can say I didnโt give the music. So when I disappear for another five years, there will be more. There will be more to speak for me.โ
