There’s a pretty good chance that most of you, like most of us here at American Songwriter, are pretty bummed that you won’t get to see the upcoming Led Zeppelin one-off concert in London next month. Knowing the life expectancy for rock stars, who knows, this could very well be the last chance to see Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones playing together on the same stage that we’ll ever get. I know, it’s totally not cool. Well, before you go jumping off a bridge, there is still hope yet!

Though rumors have been circulating for some time about a possible Zeppelin tour in ’08, there has been little evidence to support these hopes. Some fresh rumors have recently been stirred up by classic rock revivalists The Cult, and for now it is enough to keep our hopes alive.
According to Billboard, On November 17 in Cincinnati, The Cult’s lead singer Ian Astbury said, “We’ll be back next year, because we’re opening for a band you may have heard of. The name starts with an ‘L’ and has a ‘Z’ in it.” From the audience came a shout, “Led Zeppelin?!” And in response, Astbury nodded to the affirmative and raised his arm into the air.
Nothing has yet been confirmed by either band’s spokespeople, but it does keep the dream of a U.S. Led Zeppelin reunion show of some sort alive.
The Cult is currently touring in support of their latest record that dropped October 2, Born Into This, their second album since their reforming in 2000. The band has been especially active lately, now that Astbury is done touring with The Doors of the 21st Century, where he played the part of Jim Morrison with original Doors members Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek
