It’s a fine day for goths around the world. The Cure’s first album in 16 years, Songs Of A Lost World, drops on November 1. The band has teased what fans can expect from the new release with a new single, titled “A Fragile Thing”. The single comes just a couple of weeks after The Cure released another lead singer, “Alone”. You can listen to “A Fragile Thing” and “Alone” below.
“A Fragile Thing” proves that The Cure is still on the mark, complete with a stunning piano introduction and gothic-rock guitar lines that match the energy of the band’s earlier works. Allegedly, the whole of the album will be an exploration of grief and isolation.

The Cure Drops Album ‘Songs of a Lost World’ in Less Than a Month, and Fans Are Buzzing About It
Songs Of A Lost World is a long time coming. Robert Smith has been talking about it for years, and a number of hiccups have delayed the release of The Cure’s 14th album. Some of those hiccups came from Smith himself, which he has readily admitted to.
“I keep going back over and redoing them, which is silly,” Smith said back in 2019. “At some point, I have to say that’s it. It’s very much on the darker side of the spectrum. I lost my mother and my father and my brother recently, and obviously it had an effect on me. It’s not relentlessly doom and gloom. It has soundscapes on it, like ‘Disintegration’, I suppose. I was trying to create a big palette, a big wash of sound.”
Disintegration is the eighth studio album from The Cure, which was released in 1989. It’s considered one of the band’s greatest works and their biggest-selling record to date. If their newest record will be in the same vein as that album, it could easily become one of their greatest releases.
Songs Of A Lost World was originally meant to be released in 2019, and the band even toured in promotion of it. There, fans got to hear many of the songs that will appear on the album. But the album itself was delayed for quite a few years.
