‘The Voice’ Season 30 Premiere Live Blog: Every Performance, Chair Turn, and Coach Showdown (September 21, 2026)

Cameron had so much in common with Queen Latifah—she’s from New Jersey, a Tina Turner fan, and had a role on The Equalizer—the entertainer was not an option for the teen. With a choice between Clarkson and Green, Cameron went with the former coach to become a member of Team Kelly.

Brianna Cameron stunned the coaches with her performance of Tina Turner’s “River Deep – Mountain High,” getting chair turns from Kelly Clarkson and Riley Green. They were even more impressed when they found out she was—just 13!

Owen Uffens, a 18-year-old singer, opted to sing Harry Nilsson’s “Everybody’s Talking” for his Blind Audition. It went well, with both Levine and Clarkson turning around for him. Uffens selected Levine as his coach, becoming the latest member of Team Adam.

During a break from Blind Auditions, Green introduced his fellow coaches to his dog, Carl. He set up four food bowls for the pup, with one to represent each coach. Carl ate from Clarkson’s bowl first, much to Green’s disappointment.

For the first time in Voice history, the First In Button was used. Since Queen Latifah was the first coach to turn around, she was able to press the button and get Knight on her team automatically.

Mia Knight, a 16-year-old New Jersey native, stole the show with a performance of Sienna Spiro’s “You Stole the Show.” Queen Latifah was first to turn, and was followed shortly thereafter by Green and Clarkson. Green praised Knight’s performance, Clarkson noted that she’s won the show with teens before, and Queen Latifah talked about her experience managing Monica at age 12. 

At the end of Caroline Alexis’ performance of Rascal Flatts’ “Take Me There,” Green was the only coach who had turned around. That officially made her a member of Team Riley!

Despite a fun performance of “Before I Let Go,” which was originally performed by Maze and Frankie Beverly, fashion designer and singer Forte’ didn’t get coach to turn around for him.

After the Wright sisters’ performance of Linda Ronstadt’s “When Will I Be Loved,” all four coaches turned around to attempt to get them on their teams. Though they had all the options open to them, the sisters stuck with country, and picked Green as their coach.

Sisters Ferryn and Brinkley Wright were next up. The girls were quick to reveal that they hail from Dolly Parton’s hometown. Not only that, but they work as performers at her amusement park, Dollywood, too.

Destinee Monroe’s performance of Mötley Crüe’s “Home Sweet Home” earned her chair turns from Green, Levine, and Queen Latifah. All three gushed over Monroe’s time on stage, but ultimately the rocker became a part of Team Adam.

At just 12, Destinee Monroe landed a record deal with her sister, with whom she later toured alongside Britney Spears. The sisters eventually went their own ways, and now, at 32, Monroe was ready for her big moment on The Voice.

Marcus Ladden Jr. earned chair turns from Kelly Clarkson and Queen Latifah after he put a fun spin on Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River.” After some quippy back-and-forth between the coaches, Ladden Jr. wound up becoming a member of Team Queen.

After Clarkson and Green turned their chairs for for Gerson, the 21-year-old wound up selecting the former star as her coach. The choice gave Gerson his first major rejection of the season, something that he is not accustomed to.

“I’m really bad with decisions, but this is an easy one,” she said. “I’m gonna go Team Kelly.”

That statement cut Green to the bone. After Gerson made her way backstage, Green told his fellow coaches, “That’s the fastest a girl’s turned me down in a long time. She said, ‘This is an easy decision.”

Instead of attending her college graduation, Hazel Gerson decided to attend her Blind Audition. It worked out for the singer, as both Clarkson and Green turned around for her.

In a cute feature, Levine bonded with newcomer Queen Latifah over their “Pisces Power.” The Maroon 5 frontman even admitted that he’d pick the superstar as his coach if he was on the show.

From the moment Green turned around for Henley, the teen only had eyes for the country star, never mind that Clarkson turned around too. Despite Clarkson’s best efforts to sway Henley over to her team, Green’s eyes—and impromptu duet of “My Way”—drew the teen in and made him a part of Team Riley.

For the first gig of his young career, 19-year-old Joe Henley decided to audition for The Voice with a performance of Travis Tritt’s “Anymore.”

This season, coaches will not have the ability to block another coach from artists during the Blind Auditions. But there is a new feature to look forward to. Dubbed the First In Button, the button allows the coach who turned around first to automatically get the contestant in question on their team.

For its 30th season, The Voice is introducing a new feature. Throughout the season, the show will be keeping track of the likes and shares that performances rack up on TikTok. At the conclusion of the run, the artists who commands those stats will be named the  TikTok Artist of the Season.

BigCountry offered an incredible performance of “I Put a Spell on You,” prompting Green, Levine, and Queen Latifah to turn their chairs. Though Green tried to convince BigCountry to come to his team with a duck call and Levine focused on being first one to turn his chair, it was Queen Latifah who wound up with the first contestant of the season.

BigCountry was the first performer of the season. Before he took the stage, the singer, who served in the Army and played in its band, was surprised by two of his Army pals who were there to support their friend.

The season 30 premiere has officially kicked off, with returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine alongside newcomers Riley Green and Queen Latifah.
