In August 2023, legendary country singer Tim McGraw released his 16th studio album, Standing Room Only. The album’s title track became the 46th Country Radio chart-topper of his career, shattering a record previously held by George Strait. On Friday (March 7), the 11-time CMA Award winner announced he had revisited the tropical-themed “Paper Umbrellas.” This time, Tim McGraw enlisted the help of Parker McCollum.
Tim McGraw and Parker McCollum: “The Collab I Never Saw Coming”
Written by Monty Criswell and Drake Milligan, “Paper Umbrellas” sounds like garden-variety island escapism at first listen. However, the chorus reveals an unexpected layer: Yeah, girl, I’m here to tell ya, paper umbrellas / Look good on top, but they won’t stop the rain.

Additionally, McGraw shared a lyric video to his official YouTube account, much to the delight of fans. “Oh my freaking goodness I already love this song but he added PARKER MCCOLLUM!!” one YouTube user gushed.
Another added, “The collab I never saw coming! It makes the song even better!”
Released in 2023, Standing Room Only was the first bit of new material from McGraw since 2020’s Here on Earth. In a press release, the Louisiana-born artist, 57, deemed the album’s tracklist “some of the most emotional, thought-provoking, and life-affirming music I’ve ever recorded.”
Meanwhile, McCollum, 32, is in the midst of his What Kinda Man Tour, named for his latest No. 1 hit.
