Travis Barker Visits Incarcerated Firefighters in Los Angeles Amid Devastating Wildfires

Travis Barker took time to visit some unsung heroes. The Blink-182 drummer recently spent time with some of the 1,000 incarcerated firefighters who are hard at work trying to contain the ongoing blazes in Los Angeles.

Barker may have been inspired by his sister-in-law, Kim Kardashian, to make the visit. She recently spoke out in support of incarcerated firefighters getting a raise. Participants in the program currently earn about $1 per hour for their life-saving work.

After visiting with the incarcerated firefighters, Barker took to his Instagram Story to reflect on the experience.

“These guys are heroes,” Barker wrote alongside a pic of himself with the men. “They are risking their lives to serve people. Save people. Help people. And becoming men in the process.”

“I love the awareness that the Anti-Recidivism Coalition is bringing to the incarcerated guys working these fires,” Barker continued of the organization, which works to end mass incarceration in California. “A lot of them came from the juvenile system and this program gives them the ability for real change and to make a difference. To see the humanity in all of them was amazing.”

Per CNN, the wildfires in California have burned over 40,000 acres and left at least 28 people dead. Californians aren’t out of the woods yet. The outlet reported that more fires could break out in the coming days, with more than 10 million people currently under red flag warnings.
