Since opening in 2011, Santaโs Pub in Nashville has become a hotspot for lovers of country music. Already positioned in the city that plays the home of country music, the dive bar attracted several hit singers over the years. But recently, the bar was surprisingly shut down for an unexpected guest, Ed Sheeran. Taking over the bar, the singer prepared to offer a select group of fans an intimate show. While getting to watch Sheeran in a small setting is already a gift, he didnโt perform alone as he brought Noah Kahan with him.
Although used to playing in front of thousands of fans, the small show offered a new look at Sheeran. Not having a band or elaborate stage, the singer simply sat in front of a few fans to perform songs with Kahan. And offering those in attendance a special treat, Sheeran performed an unreleased track called โOld Phone.โ

While many Sheeran fans are sure to be upset about missing the performance, those who made it were sure to record the set. Gaining thousands of views, comments included, โThanks for capturing this for us poor souls who have to live vicariously through you.โ Another person continued, โI think he thought, what’s my ideal night look like? busting out tunes with appreciative fans and no drama.โ

Ed Sheeran Hints At A Career Shift Into Country Music
With Sheeranโs motives behind the small show being unknown, the singer has shown a great deal of interest in country music recently. He once told Alex Cooper, “I’ve made country songs in the past; they’ve just never come out. I have to do it properly, and once you transition to country, you can’t transition back. Once you’re there, you’re there.”
Besides hinting at a crossover into country music, Sheeran also shared his love for Nashville. Having lived in Music City in the past, he explained, โNashville is like my favorite city in the States. It’s always been like my end goal. I’m going to move to Nashville and transition to country, but I think you just have to do it properly. It’s a genre you have to really respect, and it’s not just a dip in and out.”
While making no official announcement just yet, Sheeran could be joining the ranks of crossover country artists like Post Malone and Beyonce.
