Miranda Lambert doused the country music scene in Kerosene with her 2005 major-label debut. Now 40, the “Mama’s Broken Heart” singer hasn’t lost that spark. Her 10th studio album, Postcards From Texas, drops Sept. 13, and Lambert has promised some good ol’ “honky-tonk as hell” vibes. During a recent surprise pop-up show in her home state’s capital, the multi GRAMMY-winning artist made good on that promise when she premiered another unreleased song.
See Miranda Lambert Sing “B–ch On the Sauce’ For Intimate Austin Crowd
When Miranda Lambert promises “honky-tonk as hell,” she delivers. The Longview, Texas native surprised her home state crowd Friday (Aug. 23) with a free pop-up show at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q in Austin.

Only about 200 fans were fortunate enough to secure seats in the venue, and they were definitely in for a treat. The ACM’s nine-time Female Vocalist of the Year promoted her forthcoming album with performances of already-released gems like “Alimony,” “Dammit Randy,” and the lead single, “Wranglers.” Additionally, the Austin audience were the first to hear “B–ch On the Sauce (Just Drunk.)”
The lyrics are brimming with Lambert’s trademark wry, unapologetic storytelling: It happens every time,
I crack open up that bottle / And I light that cigarette / And itโs like, ‘Aw s—, here comes trouble / Everything about me says donโt do that / But the devil on my shoulderโs saying donโt look back / And I wonder, what spell are we under / Are we in love, or are we just drunk?โ
Lambert Played Her First Show at Stubb’s 20 Years Ago: “It’s In My DNA”
Like the rest of Postcards we’ve heard so far, “B–ch on the Sauce” sounds like everything fans love about Miranda Lambert. The album is the “Bluebird” singer’s first since signing with Republic Records. She parted ways with longtime label Sony Music Nashville last year.
Besides promoting her new album, Lambert chose Stubb’s Bar-B-Q for sentimental reasons. The 14-time CMA Award winner played her very first label showcase at Stubb’s on Aug. 28, 2004.
“I have a brand-new album, and I have the same fire that I had 20 years ago at that show,” Lambert said during her Aug. 23 set. “I love a honky tonk. It’s how I grew up. It’s in my DNA.”
