Spending 14 years in the NFL as the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Terry Bradshaw brought the franchise four Super Bowl championships and even became the Super Bowl MVP twice. Eventually walking off the field for the last time, he turned his attention to hosting Fox NFL Sunday. But outside of football, Bradshaw dabbled in country music when releasing several albums. He even nurtured a friendship with country star Toby Keith. Sharing a friendship with the singer, Bradshaw recently took the stage at a Brooks & Dunn concert to pay tribute to his late friend with a special performance.
While pumping up the crowd, Kix Brooks surprised the audience when he introduced Bradshaw to the stage. Although an icon in the NFL, some might be surprised that the quarterback can sing. Appearing right at home under the spotlight, Bradshaw didn’t speak about himself but Keith. “This song I’m about to try and sing for you is a song that a good friend of mine wrote. And uh, he and I had cancer at the same time. I’m talking about Toby Keith. We used to film commercials together.”

Terry Bradshaw Kept In Touch With Toby Keith During Cancer Battle
Battling cancer alongside Keith, the two formed a lasting relationship that kept them close. “Toby and I would have a talk, and I’d say, ‘Hey, Bud, how are you doing?’ And he’d say, ‘Man, one day good, one day bad. God’s got a plan for me, I don’t know.’ And I said, ‘Well, hang in there, I’m praying for you.’ And he said, ‘I’m praying for you, buddy.’”
Although a touching moment, Bradshaw was sure to make a joke or two when claiming that Brooks & Dunn opened for him. “I appreciate you guys for opening up for me tonight. I really do. Anyway, Kix called me the other day and said, ‘I heard you sing this song in Branson,’ and he said, ‘Would you come sing it when we are at Winstar?’”
With Bradshaw not turning down the invitation, the Hall of Famer ended his speech with a simple, “Toby, I love you, buddy. I hope I sing this song good for you.”
