If youโre a fan of both Pearl Jam and Peter Frampton (youโve got eclectic taste!), you might be excited to hear about a recent live collaboration between the two rock icons. At a recent Nashville-based concert at Bridgestone Arena on Thursday night, Pearl Jam brought out none other than Humble Pie and The Herd guitarist Peter Frampton. The band and iconic guitar player then performed a rendition of Pearl Jamโs famous 1991 song โBlackโ from their debut album Ten.
For diehard fans of Frampton, it was a heartwarming sight. The โDo You Feel Like We Doโ hitmaker has been dealing with the effects of a degenerative muscle disease in the last few years. While Frampton did have to walk onto the stage with the assistance of a cane, he blew the crowd away with his signature guitar talents. What an inspiration!

Pearl Jam and Peter Frampton Go Well Together
Pearl Jam and Peter Frampton performed an extended version of โBlackโ, with guitarist Mike McCready seated right beside him. You can watch a fan-recorded video of the performance above.
Eddie Vedder was sure to introduce Frampton properly when it came time to bring him on stage. If anyone understands the importance of rock icons who came before grunge outfits like Pearl Jam, itโs Eddie Vedder.
โThis gentleman was someone we looked up to before The Ramones,โ said Vedder after bringing Frampton on stage. โSome of our first guitar heroes, [such as] Jimmy Page and Pete Townsend, he was right up there. It was one of the reasons why we loved live records, and later we decided to release bootlegs because of his influence. Heโs such an incredible human being on top of it. It is our honor, because at this point, heโs become a good friend to the group. Heโs recorded with Mike [McCready] and [Pearl Jam drummer] Matt Cameron, and we get to play with him tonight.โ
The performance was really something. Framptonโs still got it.
Pearl Jam has had a busy 2025 thus far. They kicked off their US tour last month, starting in Florida. The group is also expected to play at Vedderโs Ohana Festival in September. Likewise, Frampton is going to kick off his own US tour soon. A few noteworthy dates will take place in Phoenix, Las Vegas, and other major cities.
