Oliver Anthony Teases Release of Live Album Recorded at Joe Rogan’s Comedy Club in Austin

Carving his own path in the music industry, Oliver Anthony decided to do it his own way, not wanting to sign with a large record company. After the release of his hit song โ€œRich Men North of Richmondโ€, the singer quickly became a household name. Striking a chord with middle-class America, the song became somewhat of an anthem for those struggling to make ends meet. Now, returning to the airwaves with his song โ€œScornful Womanโ€, Anthony teased a special live album that was recorded at Joe Roganโ€™s comedy club, The Comedy Mothership.

For any fan of Anthony, they know that the singer caught the eye of Rogan. Loving the raw emotions he put in every song, Rogan brought Anthony on his podcast to discuss his rise to fame and his different approach to the business. And Rogan apparently invited him to perform at his comedy club.

Sharing a collage of pictures on his Instagram, Anthony, with a handful of guests, appeared all smiles as they performed on stage. Although not giving away too many details about the performance, the singer wrote in the caption, โ€œThe Mothership live album recording was a success.โ€

Thankfully, Rogan shared a snippet of Anthony performing on stage, writing, “Last night my brother Oliver Anthony performed at Comedy Mothership and it was glorious. This was our first weekend with a musical performer and it was really amazing.โ€

Oliver Anthony Discusses Inspiration Behind “Scornful Woman”

Outside of Anthony working on a live album, the singer also discussed his inspiration behind โ€œScornful Woman.โ€ Well, Rogan did more of the explaining as he told listeners, โ€œHe starts making millions of dollars, playing arenas. The wife divorces him. She wants everything. She wants EVERYTHING.” Rogan continued, “She wants more than half. She wants all the money heโ€™s going to be making in the future because she was with him when he was broke. Itโ€™s f***** crazy. Heโ€™s just tortured. He wants to die. Wants to dieโ€ฆ and writes this song.โ€

Recalling that moment of his life in his own words, Anthony insisted, โ€œThere were multiple, different negative things happening all at once, and I got in a post where I did my thing, where I sort of spiraled and was isolating myself. I spent a month-and-a-half or two months in that house. I didnโ€™t do Thanksgiving or Christmas last year. Just really didnโ€™t hardly talk to anybody or anything. It was probably time to write a song like that.โ€

Channeling that pain and heartbreak into โ€œScornful Womanโ€, Anthony once again produced a No. 1 hit as he gained the top spot on iTunes Rock Charts.
